چکیده

In this article, the biodegradable polylactide/hyaluronic acid (PLA/HA) composites were prepared by a melt blending method. In addition, the acrylic acid grafted polylactide (PLA-g-AA) was studied as an alternative to PLA. The samples were characterized by a fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), a differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), an Instron mechanical tester, and a scanning electron microscopy (SEM). As the result, due to the poor compatibility between PLA and HA, the mechanical properties of PLA/HA composites were worse than PLA. Much better dispersion and homogeneity of HA in the polymer matrix could be obtained when PLA-g-AA was used in place of PLA in the composite. The PLA-g-AA/HA composites could obviously improve the mechanical properties of PLA/HA ones, and the former provided a plateau tensile strength at break when the HA content was up to 20 wt%. Furthermore, the PLAg-AA/HA was more easily processed than the PLA/HA because the former had lower viscosity than the latter, as they were molten. Biodegradation tests of blends were also studied under the enzymatic environment, and the result showed that the mass of blends reduced by about the HA content within 4 weeks. q 2005 Elsevier Ltd. Novel blends of polylactide with ethylene glycol derivatives of POSS

Polylactide (PLA), a main biodegradable and biobased candidate for the replacement of petrochemical polymers, is stiff and brittle at room conditions. It is therefore of high interest to formulate new PLA-based materials suitable for applications demanding flexibility and toughness. In this work, novel blends of PLA with polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (POSS) grafted with longer (P1) and ...

Synthesis and click chemistry of a new class of biodegradable polylactide towards tunable thermo-responsive biomaterials.

A new class of clickable and biodegradable polylactide was designed and prepared via bulk polymerization of 3,6-dipropargyloxymethyl-1,4-dioxane-2,5-dione (1) which was synthesized from easily accessible propargyloxylactic acid (5). A homopolymer of 1 and random copolymer of 1 with l-lactide were obtained as amorphous materials and exhibit low Tg of 8.5 and 34 °C, respectively, indicating their...

The morphology, miscibility, and specific interactions of paclitaxel (PTx) with a family of polyhedral oligosilsesquioxane (POSS)-based biodegradable thermoplastic polyurethanes (POSS TPUs) were investigated systematically using wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). These POSS TPUs incorporate an alterna...
